With the 12th pick of the second round (44th overall), the Miami Dolphins blog, The Phinsider, selects:
***Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut***

To be honest, I'm shocked Butler remains on the board. In fact, I was beginning to regret passing on him with my first round pick. But landing Butler now, after getting that much needed pass rusher in round one to compliment Joey Porter, has made day one a success. And we still have another second round pick coming up.
Butler really addresses Miami's biggest need entering this draft - a starting-caliber corner opposite of Will Allen. He ran the fastest 40 among all corners at the Combine (4.46) and then improved his time to a 4.38 at his pro day, according to Mike Mayock. Butler possesses the best footwork among all corners in the draft and he probably has the most fluid hips – allowing him to change directions and to turn and run effortlessly. Combine all that with his natural instincts and ball skills (and his ridiculous 43 inch vertical leap), and it’s easy to see why the Dolphins would be celebrating in their war room if Darius fell to their laps with the 44th pick.
The New York Giants (from New Orleans) are on the clock.
