Gridironfans.com is reporting two sources confirmed Roderick Hood, a starting defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals last season, has been signed by the Cleveland Browns.
Hood broke into the NFL with the Eagles in 2003 and played for four seasons before heading to Arizona in 2007. There, he started in 30 of 32 games and had six interceptions and 90 tackles. For his career, he has 11 interceptions and 201 tackles.
Hood played left cornerback for the Cardinals. Currently, the Browns depth chart at left cornerback is as follows:
Eric Wright
Hank Poteat
Don Carey
Corey Boudreaux
Bryan Williams
For good measure, at right cornerback it is:
Brandon McDonald
Corey Ivy
Gerard Lawson
Coye Francies
Those who are still with us, that is 10 cornerbacks on the Browns with the addition of Hood.
Unlike most of the players Mangini has brought in, Hood should be in his prime at 27 years old. It is not clear whether Hood was brought in to replace Brandon McDonald or Eric Wright in the starting line up or if Hood will finally be the nickel corner the Browns tried, and failed, to find last season.
This move also should provide the Browns some depth at the corner position. The last time Hood was a free agent, the Browns tried hard under the leadership of Phil Savage to sign him. This is an excellent signing that provides starting caliber depth to a position that is growing in need as teams run more and more three and four receiver sets.
Two questions still remain:
1. The Browns already had two starting cornerbacks, signed two others as free agents (Corey Ivy and Hank Poteat), and drafted two more last April. Much like the wide receiver position, how many players can the team carry at one position?
2. While it is nice to see the team making moves to try to improve there is one area of great concern continues to get over looked: Who is going to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks?

That's one heck of a passing scrimmage the Browns can hold during the summer.
I say great move. Maybe stocking up on CB's will let us choose from the cream of the crop and we can then trade the others for picks/pass rushers.
The Browns will have to cut some vets at QB to make room for the young up and coming stars. Unfortunately that means they may not make another teams rooster unless injuries happen. Oops sorry guys. We can produce a pass rush by exotic blitzes and bringing in fresh d linemen as we have 5-6 starters at that position. Our run defense should be stout. Also look for the Browns to finish in the top 20 and vi for a playoff spot just ahead of Cinci. Equal talent but we have better team chemistry. One more thing look for Anderson to come in and provide a spark from time to time each game! You hear it here 1st. 64chevyman!
THiS TEAM iS GOiNG TO ROCK
BROWNS ARE GOiNG TO BE iN THE PLAYOFF THiS YEAR
Its obvious that the Browns are not happy with Eric Wright and Brandon Macdonald
WELL THE BROWNS NEED TO SiGN A NOTHER RUNNiNG BACK FOR THE BROWNS
