Yup. That is true.
Former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar was in the news Friday. He appeared on the WKNR 850's "Really Big Show" this morning, hosted by FOX 8's Tony Rizzo. In case you missed the on-air interview, OBR's Steve King has a recap here.
Kosar had two interesting tidbits. First, he is filing for personal bankruptcy. Second, he said in 1998 he pushed Al Lerner to bring back Bill Belichick as Browns head coach for the 1999 season.
Instead, Belichick went to the New England Patriots in 2000 and won three Super Bowls. The Browns have made the playoffs once.
Still, there was no reason Browns fans would allow Belichick to return to Cleveland and after Belichick was treated, whose to say he would come back. The facts are when Belichick took over the Browns, he guided the team to a 12-4 record in 1994 and a playoff victory.
Hindsight is 20/20 and it is fun to think back to and as, "What if?"
Steve King provided a quick recap as to the other coaches rumored to be intersted in the Cleveland job.
Steve Mariucci? Denied.
Brian Billick? Denied.
Hey, that Chris Palmer seems like a good choice. Palmer was fired in 2000.
As for Kosar's personal problems NoLogoNeeded wishes him the best of luck. He should be OK. According to his agent, personal appearances nets him $10,000.
If anyone is interested, my birthday is in October.
