John Taylor, an Orange and Brown Report reporter, reports (always wanted to do that), the Browns have signed their fourth-round pick, OLB Kaluka Maiava, to a four-year deal around $2.5 million.
Kaluka Maiava (pronounced: “kuh-LOO-kuh my-AH-vuh”) is the second draft pick to sign after James Davis (pronounced: "The next great Cleveland running back hope") agreed to terms last week.
Maiava was the forgotten USC linebacker behind the big three of Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing and Clay Matthews, Jr. At 5-foot-11, 232 pounds, his size was a concern, but his results were impressive. Last season, Maiava had 66 tackles, 7.5 for loss, one interception and five pass breakups.
No word on if those five passes were able to move on with their lives. (*rim shot*)
In May, NoLogoNeeded.com caught up with The Daily Trojan's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz who covered USC for the school paper. He shed some light into the type linebacker the Browns can expect in Maiava. Oh, and Maiava's uncle is The Rock.
