The Browns move onto the second week with the first of two road games. Sunday's game at Denver is the Browns longest road trip (in mileage) all season.

Last season, the Browns had the Broncos beat on a Thursday night in Cleveland before a fourth-quarter rally by Jay Cutler led Denver to the come-from-behind four-point victory.

It can be argued, however, that Denver not only didn't improve, but got worse in the offseason. This has all the makings of a easy Browns victory this week, but with the Browns nothing comes easy.

WHAT TO WATCH

Will the defense play four quarters?
Let's put things in perspective. The Browns played a dominate first-half against a team that has the best running back in the game playing behind an equally as good offensive line. Then, the Browns seemed to fade. I can't say that I am surprised, but it would have been nice to see them finish the way they started. This week, Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan should challenge them to do just that. Watch for the Browns defense to fly around and make plays against a Broncos team that is not as talented as the Vikings.

Can Josh Cribbs get his touches?

We have all seen what Cribbs can do in the open field on special teams. Now it is on Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to figure out how to translate that on offense. The Flash package with Cribbs is great — I was glad to see them pull that out — but the Browns need to Cribbs in the open field on short passes or bubble screens. Even mixing in a reverse wouldn't hurt.

Is Kamerion Wimbley finally coming into his own?

For the Browns sake, I hope so. His disappearing act the past couple of years may have just been a product of our bend-but-don't-break philosophy on defense. With Ryan at the helm it seems they are moving Wimbley around to create favorable matchups. If we see another game like he played against Minnesota, his ability will finally translate on the field. People will begin to take notice.

Is Brady the guy?

We have to keep an eye on this throughout the season. Quinn needs to show improvement each and every week to prove to Mangini and to the rest of the NFL that he can play quarterback in this league. To start, Quinn must have more confidence in his abilities. Checking down is fine, the best of the best do it. But it seems to me like he is going through his progressions too fast and using his bailout (Robert Royal) like a safety blanket. Good quarterbacks take chances at the right times. No risk, no reward.

Where will Jerome Harrison fit in?

Based on reports yesterday, it looks like Harrison will be active and ready to contribute against Denver. Will he provide a spark or just be a guy to spell Lewis?. Based on what Harrison did last season, he should be able to contribute. If he is put in with the spread package, he can be dangerous. If they pound him between the tackles, I wouldn't look for much out of him.

Will the Browns get back to .500?
My thought is absolutely. Cleveland played with one of the best teams in the NFL gives last week and that gives me a ton of hope. The Browns should and will build on what happened last week and come out with a solid game. As I have said before, the Broncos are an awful team. Nothing I saw in week one would lead me to believe otherwise. I look for the Browns to head into Denver and win this game easily.

KEY MATCHUPS

By Don Delco

Brandon Marshall vs. Eric Wright and Eddie Royal vs. Brandon McDonald
Marshall and Royal are the only two weapons on the edge. First, Marshall threw a temper tantrum in the preseason and reportedly did not learn the Broncos playbook. Against Cincinnati, Marshall had four catches for 27 yards. McDonald has a chance at redemption after allowing Royal and Cutler to connect on a 93-yard touchdown reception last season.

Browns front seven vs. Broncos rushing attack
Since the late 90s, the Broncos have been known for their vaunted running game. From Terrell Davis to Olandis Gary no matter who was running the ball, they were gaining yards. Last week, Corell Buckhalter and rookie Knowshon Moreno each had eight carries and combined for 65 yards. Not stellar. The Browns defense was impressive against Minnesota's Adrian Peterson in the first half. In the second half ... not stellar. If that first-half defense shows 75 percent of that same style against Denver, the Broncos should have a tough time moving the ball on the ground.

Floyd Womack and John St. Clair vs. themselves
Regardless of who Womack and St. Clair have to block this Sunday, the simple goal is to block someone. The Browns right side of the line was horrendous last week against the Vikings. If the Browns offense — and Quinn — are to show improvement, Womack and St. Clair need to open running lanes for Jamal Lewis and give Quinn some time in pass protection.

Braylon Edwards vs. Champ Bailey
It was evident not only against Minnesota, but in practice that Edwards and Quinn are not in sync. This needs to change as Edwards can be a playmaker for Quinn and the Browns offense. Edwards faces Bailey this week who is regarded as one of the NFL's best corners. Bailey may be losing a step as Bengals No. 1 wide receiver Chad Ochocinco had five catches for 89 yards last week. A similar output by Edwards and it would do wonders for the Browns sputtering offense.

STAFF PREDICTIONS

•Aaron: Browns 34, Broncos 10

•Don: Browns 23, Broncos 13
