Cribbs suffers possible concussion

It was a sobering sight. Josh Cribbs was carted off the field immobilized in a stretcher following the conclusion of the Browns' 16-0 loss to Baltimore on Monday Night Football.. Although Cribbs was able to move his arms and legs, he was taken to a hospital and treated for a concussion.

With three seconds remaining, the Browns were down 16 points and tried to run a hook-and-ladder type play. Cribbs flipped the ball to Robert Royal and then proceeded to get blasted by Dwan Edwards.

"Running a play like that when you're down 16 -- what are you trying to prove?" said Ravens defender Trevor Price to the Plain Dealer. "I don't understand it. I don't want to say something like that, but heck, it's the truth.

"Bad things happen when you do something like that. When people are running around like crazy, somebody's going to get hurt. Dwan hit him because he had the ball. He didn't try to hurt him. We prayed for Josh. I hope he's OK. He's a great player."

We're wondering the same thing, Trevor.

In addition, ProFootballTalk.com reported that the Browns should have never been in position to run that play, as referees awarded Cleveland a fourth time out.

"Cleveland took an initial time out with 3:24 to play in the third quarter.  The Browns took their second time out with 3:35 to play in the game.  And the third time out was used with 3:29 to go.

So when the Ravens had a first down at the Cleveland 39 with two minutes to play, Baltimore should have been able to kill the remaining time with only three snaps (barring an incomplete pass or a run out of bounds).

But the Browns called time out again after the first play following the two-minute warning.  As a result, the Ravens turned the ball over on downs with 20 seconds to play, giving the Browns a chance to run three more plays -- including the one that sent Cribbs to the hospital."

Who called this awful play? Can you score 16 points on one play? Just plain stupid. Sums up the Browns leadership and coaching this year.
