The Cleveland Browns are on a two-game winning streak. Although the season has two games left, there is plenty of story lines to follow. Most notably, Josh Cribbs has a chance at setting the all-time record for single-season all-purpose yardage.
Currently, Tennessee wide receiver Derrick Mason has the mark with 2,690 yards set in 2000. The yards include rushing, receiving, kickoff and punt returns and fumble and interception returns.
Cribbs has 2,336 yards with two games remaining, leaving 354 yards to go. Cribbs' current average is 166 yards.
Browns fullback Lawrence Vickers not only helped Jerome Harrison rush for 286 yards last week, but sprung Cribbs on his first kickoff return for a touchdown.
"We had a bunch of pancakes, just didn't have any syrup," said Vickers, in a Plain Dealer article by Tony Grossi. What would be the syrup in a football game?
"The syrup would be just every time Josh would take it to the crib," he said. "That's what we look for any time, anyway. So when he doesn't, it's like, 'What happened? What went wrong?' And when he does do it, it's like, 'There goes another one. There he goes again. Pay the man.' That's our little slogan, 'Pay the man.'"
Cribbs chance at a record is only his latest example that three-word slogan becoming more and more valid.
