According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns placed a second-round tender on LB Matt Roth. Not bad for a guy that was signed off of waivers. Hank Fraley, Jamal Lewis, and possibly Shaun Roger are not part of this latest rebuilding process.
The Browns won four games at the end of the year without them. Conventional thinking would have you believe those three are expendable. Roth, on the other hand, is very much going to be a part of the process and part of this team moving forward for quite a few seasons. The Browns love the fact Roth is versatile and works hard. He is a quintessential Mangini guy, which makes him a quintessential Brown.

I liked Roth. Unlike other Mangini guys, he actually showed he has a motor.
I have a dumb question.
What does all this tendering mean?
I mean, when a guy gets a second round tender, what exactly are we talking about?
@ Jerrytown:
If another team assigns a player, say, with a first-round tender, if another team offers that player a contract, the player's current team has seven days to match it, or it will receive a first-round draft pick as compensation.
